ABC 7/WJLA-TV PRESENTS TOUCH OF LIFE: The Guide to Breast Self-Examination Breast Cancer Coverage Never Before Seen on TV in the DC Region *Viewer Discretion Advised*

Arlington, VA, October 28, 2009– ABC 7/WJLA-TV proudly announces Touch of Life: The Guide to Breast Self-Examination – an innovative and in-depth look at breast self-examination in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The special program will run from October 29th until November 2nd. This unique television event will include a clinical demonstration of a breast self-exam without obscuring any of the breast area. Participants for the program volunteered to reveal their bodies in order to make sure women in our region knew how to properly perform this life-saving self-test.

Touch of Life: The Guide to Breast Self-Examination will be broadcast within the 5:00 PM and 11:00 PM newscasts on Thursday, October 29th and Friday, October 30th. The ABC 7 news team discovered that many women do not know how, when or how often to properly perform a breast self-exam.

Reporters Gail Pennybacker and Julie Parker will answer these questions. Parker and Pennybacker will speak with local breast health experts and be present during two clinical breast exam demonstrations with two very brave local women.

Our news coverage will also include interviews with Elizabeth Edwards and Tanya Snyder, wife of Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder, both of whom strongly support our on-air clinical demonstration.

In addition to the news coverage, ABC 7 will also be hosting a breast health phone bank in partnership with Inova Breast Care Institute on Friday, October 30th. Oncologists and medical professionals known as breast navigators will be on-hand to field questions related to self-examination from noon to 7:00 PM. The station will also host a web-chat at 7:00 PM on November 2nd with renowned surgeon Dr. Roger Friedman whose patient list includes Tanya Snyder.
