Principal Staff:
Linda Lisi Juergens, Executive Director

Type of Organization: National Grassroots/Advocacy
Founded: 1975

Mission Statement:
Since 1975, women who want a place where they can meet other mothers and discuss issues relevant to themselves and their families have established Mothers´ Centers in their neighborhoods. Mothers´ Centers are self sustaining, non-profit groups where mothers meet, engage in discussion groups, enjoy a respite from their child caretaking role (childcare is available while the Mothers´ participate in groups), and help keep their center going through cooperative responsibility. Center members can use their expertise and talents while trying out new skills.

Our Mission is:

  • To create a network of centers and programs by and for mothers

  • To raise awareness of and promote maternal well being

  • To be a resource for its individual and center members

  • To advocate for public policies that value the work of care giving

The vision of the NAMC is a society in which the work of taking care of others is valued, supported, at the center of public discussion and a priority in public policy.

Subject Expertise:
Mothering, caregiving and advocacy
