Mission Statement:

The DC Rape Crisis Center is dedicated to creating a world free of sexual violence.
The Center works to effect social change through community outreach, education, and legal and public policy initiatives. It helps survivors and their families heal from the aftermath of sexual violence through crisis intervention, counseling and advocacy. Committed to the belief that all forms of oppression are linked, the Center values accessibility, cultural diversity and the empowerment of women and children.

Subject Expertise:
The Center´s services include: a 24-hour hotline, group and individual counseling services for rape and incest survivors and their families and friends, a companion program to accompany survivors to hospitals, courts and police proceedings, low-cost self-defense classes, a growing library, training for professionals working with survivors and a wide array of community education programs including Staying Safe classes for children of all ages within the D.C. public school system.
